Birthday greeting are extended to Biddy Gleeson, Terryglass, who will celebrate her 87th birthday on Tuesday 16th July. We wish Biddy many more years of health and happiness.

Do You Know Something We Don’t ?  Would You Like To Share It?
A meeting will be held this Friday 12th July at 8pm in the Sports Field Pavilion, Ballinderry, with a view to setting up a Parish Historical Society. It is open to everyone and anyone who has or would like to have an interest in history, especially the history of the parish. This is just an information evening and to get people’s views, so do come along.
We have a wealth of history in our parish and it would be lovely to be able to form a forum where we could each share our own stories and our own history.

The second outing of 2013 for the Shannon Rover’s Golf Society is to Roscrea Golf Club this Saturday 13th July. Tee time 8.45am-10am.

Work continues every Monday evening in Kilbarron and if you can spare some time it would be much appreciated, meeting in the square at 7.30pm. A general clean-up is on-going with brushing up all paths and all areas of the village.
The new Notice Board featured in the car park is there for all notices and if you have a new notice you would like displayed on it please contact Midge O’ Meara.

The Terryglass/Kilbarron Over 60’s Club and ICA are planning an outing to Galway on Wednesday 17th July. The bus will depart from Ballinderry (Tavern Car Park) at 10.30am and travel to the city for some shopping, then to The Galleon for a three course meal and an afternoon in Salthill. The subsidized cost is €10.Names can be given to Mary Prout, Loretta Tiernan or Monie Hogan. All are most welcome.

A Relay For Life fundraiser will be held in Hannigans, Kilbarron this Saturday, 13th July, from 9pm onwards. A 70’s and 80’s Disco and Raffle on the night. Candles of Hope are also available in Hannigans and from Marcella McKenna.

The Nenagh Branch of the Irish Red Cross is running a Practical First Aid Course on Saturday 13th/Sunday 14th July in the Pastoral Centre, Church Road, Nenagh from 10am-5pm each day. The cost is €80 per person, please contact Caroline Prout 0831423062 immediately.

The ‘Tip of the Week’- is to be sensible about your keys. Do not put an address on your keys or key ring and do not hide an extra key under a door mat or flower pot.
When driving always lock your car and keep windows up and never leave your keys in the ignition when you leave your car even for a few minutes. Do not leave packages or other tempting articles on view in a locked car, put them in the boot of the car out of sight. Never pick up hitch hikers.

The weekly ‘working evening’ meets in the village square at 7.30pm each Tuesday, volunteers are always welcome. Great work is being done. Once again please be vigilant regarding discarded litter and householders are encouraged to keep their own surrounds looking good.

You are invited to a meeting on Wednesday 17th July at 8.30pm in the Old School, Kilbarron to discuss appropriate ways of marking the Bi-centenary of Kilbarron Church in 2014. All are welcome.

Our Summer Party will take place on Monday 22nd July in the Church of Ireland Hall, Borrisokane at 1pm. There is a choice of either turkey or cod for the main course and for dessert trifle, apple pudding or chocolate gateau, the subsidized cost is €10.  The afternoon will continue with music, song and dance with music supplied by Margaret and Rita and Seanie. There is Bingo every Monday in Terryglass Community Hall at 8.30pm sharp organised by the Shannon Rovers GAA Club with great money prizes, including an excellent Jackpot of €1,000. Contact Oliver Darcy for further information. The prizes are excellent with €15, €20 and €50 for a line, two lines and a full house respectively. There is a flyer for €150 each week and the full house if the jackpot isn’t won is €100.
