THE LATE VICTOR STANLEY
The death occurred on Monday 4th February of Victor Stanley, Lisquillabeen, Coolbawn, in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Nenagh. Removal took place on Tuesday evening from Ryan’s Funeral Home, Nenagh, to Kilbarron Church and after Funeral Mass on Wednesday morning interment took place in the adjacent cemetery. Victor was predeceased by his beloved wife May. He was born in Coolbawn and lived and worked locally all his life. Victor enjoyed a game of cards and his visits to Hannigans and also liked music, and dancing in his younger days. He had suffered failing health in recent years and will be missed by all who knew him. Sympathy is extended to his brother Tom, sisters Frances, Mary, Bess and Joan, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
THE LATE EDWARD COEN
The death of Eddie Coen occurred at his residence in Ballinderry on Monday 4th February. Removal took place from his home on Wednesday afternoon to Kilbarron Church and after Funeral Mass interment took place in the adjacent cemetery. Eddie was a much loved husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was born in Ballinderry but had worked and lived in Limerick for some years before returning to reside in his native Ballinderry and taking up employment with Michael Mankhy. He had a keen interest in motor-rally racing in which his daughter was involved and got great pleasure from saving his turf each summer.
Sympathy is extended to his wife Lily, sons David, Jonathan and Daniel, daughter Olivia, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and relations.
POKER CLASSIC
Shannon Rover’s GAA Club is holding a Poker Classic this Sunday 17th February in Hannigan’s Bar, Kilbarron, commencing at 5.30pm. Prize money of €1,500 pro rata and refreshments will be available. All are most welcome and your support would be greatly appreciated.(see advert)
KILBARRON NS ENROLMENT
Enrolment for Kilbarron NS will take place on Monday 18th February from 7-7.30pm.
Congratulations are extended to the Kilbarron NS quiz teams who took part in the recent Borrisokane Credit Union Quiz. The U/11 team of Cian O’Meara, James McDermott, Ava Burke and Laura Leenane came 1st in their age group and to the U/13 team of Roisin Fox, Marcus Esmonde, Michael Carroll and Aoibheann O’Meara who came 2nd in their group.
Kilbarron NS Parent’s Council will host celebrity chef Nevin Maguire’s cookery demonstration in the Abbey Court Hotel, Nenagh, on Tuesday 26th February. Tickets are €25 and available from Carmel Fox 087 6359492, Hannigan’s, Kilbarron and McDermott’s Pharmacy, Borrisokane.
GARDA UPDATE
Following the closure of Terryglass Garda Station all policing functions have been transferred to the Borrisokane Station, which is open Monday-Saturday 10am-1pm. The phone number is 067 27101. For an emergency please call 112 or 999. Residents are advised that there is a 24 hour Garda presence in the Borrisokane/Terryglass area and all calls will be promptly attended to regardless of the hour.
COMMUNITY ALERT
The ‘Tip of the Week’ is- ‘Protecting your Banking’- never reveal your PIN number or password. Check your list of payees regularly to ensure everything is in order. Review the transactions on your credit card against receipts. If you make a payment on line, always double check you have entered the correct details and never allow your computer to remember your account and card numbers. Ensure you log off properly from on line banking. Check your statements regularly, if you notice anything unusual or suspicious on your accounts report it immediately.
BINGO
There is Bingo every Monday in Terryglass Community Hall at 8.30pm sharp organised by the Shannon Rovers GAA Club with great money prizes, including an excellent Jackpot of €1,000. Contact Oliver Darcy for further information. The prizes are excellent with €15, €20 and €50 for a line, two lines and a full house respectively. There is a flyer for €150 each week and the full house if the jackpot isn’t won is €100.

RURAL TRANSPORT
A bus is available to take parishioners from Terryglass, Ballinderry and Coolbawn to the Saturday 7.30pm Mass in Terryglass and departs from Terryglass at 6.50pm. For further information or to book a place please contact Loretta Tiernan 067 28066 or Mary Tierney 28167
The bus to Nenagh each Thursday departs Paddy’s, Terryglass at 10am, Ballinderry 10.10, Coolbawn (Molamphy’s) 10.20 arriving in Nenagh at 11am. The bus returns from Nenagh at 2.10pm .We urge you to consider availing of these services, which are free to Travel Pass holders. The bus operator is Ken Daly 087 6273177 or 067 21988 or if you require more information on any route please contact Louise 067 27088. A bus travels each Friday from Nenagh via Borrisokane and Ballingarry to Bingo in Birr.
A bus also travels to Borrisokane each Monday departing from Terryglass around 1pm, via Ballinderry, Coolbawn and Carney Commons and arrives at 2pm and departs for home at 4pm. Services are door to door and booking can be made by contacting Ken Daly
