THE LATE BERNARD DARCY
The death occurred recently of Bernard Darcy, Ballinderry, removal took pace from St. Joseph’s Funeral Home on Sunday 9th December to the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Terryglass and after Requiem Mass interment took place in the adjoining cemetery. Bernard was a very well respected and popular man who always enjoyed stopping for a chat, he had been involved in the family business in Ballinderry and also ran a taxi business. His great passion was Lough Derg and boating. He had also worked for the prison service in the transporting of prisoners. Bernard will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Sympathy is extended to his relatives and friends.

CHRISTMAS MASS TIMES
The Christmas Mass times are as follows: Christmas Eve by candlelight Kilbarron at 7.30pm and Terryglass 9.30pm, Christmas Day-Family Mass- Terryglass 9.30am and Kilbarron 11am.

SYMPATHY
Sympathy is extended to Michael Dore, Rodeen, on the recent death of his brother Patsy Dore.

DEATHS
The deaths have recently occurred of Sean Mackey, formerly Terryglass, in England and Moira Glover, formerly Drominagh, in Limerick.

CONGRATULATIONS
Congratulations and good wishes are extended to Joe Hannigan who was elected Tipperary’s new Football Board Chairman.

SHANNON RANGERS FC
Shannon Rangers continued winning ways last Sunday in Ballymackey with a 3-2 victory, we went ahead through a Josh McKenna penalty, then Darragh Haugh bagged the second. Barry Cahalan knocked in the third after half time from a Ray Burke free kick, but the home team got back into it with two goals but Rangers held on to stay top at Christmas. The u/16’s had no game at the weekend and the u/13’s played a worthwhile friendly between themselves.
Don’t forget our St. Stephen’s Day friendly game New Rangers v Old Rangers at 2pm followed by “Ted Fest” at 5pm in Elsie’s music with king ‘Karoke on the night with a ‘Luvly Ladies’ competition, come along and join the fun.

KILBARRON NS
Kilbarron N S Parent’s Council has produced a beautiful 16 page colour calendar with lovely photos of all the school children and their teachers. The cost is €10 and they are available from Kilbarron N S and Hannigan’s shop.
The Parents Council will also host celebrity chef Nevin Maguire’s cookery demonstration in the Abbey Court Hotel on Tuesday 26th February 2013. Tickets are €25 and are available from Carmel Fox 087 6359492, Hannigan’s, Kilbarron and McDermott’s Pharmacy, Borrisokane.
Both these items would make a great Christmas present!!

GREETINGS
I would like to take this opportunity to wish all the readers a ‘Happy Christmas and Peaceful New Year’ and to thank everyone for keeping me up to date with events and club activities.

TERRYGLASS ICA
Terryglass ICA would like to wish ‘Happy Christmas and Joyous New Year’ to all parishioners, the hall committee and people in nursing homes.

COMMUNITY ALERT
Can we all continue to keep an eye on our elderly neighbours during the cold weather and enquire if there is anything they need.
The ‘Tip of the Week’ is again on Fire Prevention- most fires start in the kitchen so ensure you keep an extinguisher or fire blanket handy. Keep cookers clean, grease is dangerous, always place pot handles inward.
Make sure your Christmas tree lights have a safe socket connection. Be watchful at all times of lit candles and keep out of the reach of children.

FUN WALK
Join the Shannon Rover’s Camogie Club in its Fun Walk on St. Stephen’s Day from the Sportsfield to Paddy’s Bar, Terryglass, assembling at 1.45pm. All are welcome, no entry fee, just come and walk and enjoy the craic, hot refreshments afterwards. Voluntary donations can be made to the Camogie Club.

BINGO
There is Bingo every Monday in Terryglass Community Hall at 8.30pm sharp organised by the Shannon Rovers GAA Club with great money prizes, including an excellent Jackpot of €1,000. Contact Oliver Darcy for further information. The prizes are excellent with €15, €20 and €50 for a line, two lines and a full house respectively. There is a flyer for €150 each week and the full house if the jackpot isn’t won is €100.
Buses are available from the surrounding area,i.e.Nenagh/Ardcroney/Borrisokane/Ballinderry and Ballingarry/Rathcabbin/Lorrha/Carrigahorig/Terryglass. Buses depart at 7pm and for further information contact Ken Daly 087 6273177 or 067 21988.

RURAL TRANSPORT
A bus is available to take parishioners from Terryglass, Ballinderry and Coolbawn to the Saturday 7.30pm Mass in Terryglass and departs from Terryglass at 6.50pm.  For further information or to book a place please contact Loretta Tiernan 067 28066 or Mary Tierney 28167
The bus to Nenagh each Thursday departs Paddy’s, Terryglass at 10am, Ballinderry 10.10, Coolbawn (Molamphy’s) 10.20 arriving in Nenagh at 11am. The bus returns from Nenagh at 2.10pm .We urge you to consider availing of these services, which are free to Travel Pass holders. The bus operator is Ken Daly 087 6273177 or 067 21988 or if you require more information on any route please contact Louise 067 27088. A bus travels each Friday from Nenagh via Borrisokane and Ballingarry to Bingo in Birr.
A bus also travels to Borrisokane each Monday departing from Terryglass around 1pm, via Ballinderry, Coolbawn and Carney Commons and arrives at 2pm and departs for home at 4pm. Services are door to door and booking can be made by contacting Ken Daly
