Weekly News 2nd March 2013

The death occurred on Monday 18th February of Tommy Slattery, Lesseragh, Coolbawn, at his residence. After reposing at Ryan’s Funeral Home, Nenagh, on Tuesday evening removal took place on Wednesday morning to Kilbarron Church and after Funeral Mass interment took place in the adjacent cemetery. Tommy was a dearly loved husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was born in Kilbiller and after his marriage resided and farmed in Lesseragh and was a highly respected member of the farming community. Tommy was an integral part of our parish, where he will be best remembered for his GAA involvement. He played with the Shannon Rovers, was a past chairman, he also served as chairman of the Nth. Tipp County Board, just to name some of the posts he filled. Tommy served on the Parish Council in the 1990’s and was also on the original committee of the parish Over 60’s Club when it was formed in 1964 and he spent time on Kilbarron hall committee. Truly a man who worked to make life better for so many, a good neighbour and friend who will be sadly missed by a large circle of family and friends.. Sympathy is extended to his wife Eileen, son Eoin, daughters Suzanne and Roisin, daughter-in-law Kathy, son-in-law Ger, grandchildren Ciara, Niamh, Sean and Tom, brothers Willie, John and Mick, sisters Susan and Sighle, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Birthday greetings are extended to Nell Moore, Coolbawn, who will celebrate her 88th birthday on March 2nd. We all wish her many more years of health and happiness.

The next meeting will be held on Wednesday 6th March at 8.00pm and hostesses for the night are Margaret Molloy and Nuala Guest.
