THE LATE MICHAEL ROONEY
The death occurred last week of Michael Rooney, Roran, Terryglass. After reposing at Bushy Park Funeral Home on Wednesday evening removal took place to the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Terryglass, for Requiem Mass on Thursday morning followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. Michael was a beloved husband and father. He had been a baker for many years and had a great interest in vintage machinery and also had a fondness for animals specially looking after sick pets. Sympathy is extended to his wife Una, sons Patrick and Paul, daughters Christine, Tracy and Michelle, brothers Danny and Christy, grandchildren,  brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, relatives and many friends

2013 TREE OF REMEMBERANCE
If you would like to remember a loved one by making a donation to Nth.Tipp. Hospice Movement, you can do so by placing a contribution in the special envelopes available in The Guardian office, Bank of Ireland, AIB, TSB, Ulster Bank or the Library. A tree will be placed at the Court House, Nenagh and will be lit at 4pm on Saturday 7th Dec. If you would like a light to shine for your loved one please put the name of the person or family on the envelope with your donation. All monies raised locally will stay locally.

PAST TO PRESENT-SHANNON ROVERS BOOK
Further copies of the pictorial history of the Shannon Rovers complied by Frank Moran are now available and would make very interesting Christmas presents. The cost is €15 and all monies raised go to the Shannon Rovers Juvenile Club.

TERRYGLASS ICA
The next meeting will be held this Wednesday 4th December at 8pm and hostesses for the night are Bridie Cahalan and Mary Quirke.

KILBARRON OLD CEMETERY
Subscriptions for the upkeep and maintenance of Kilbarron Old Cemetery are now due and can be paid to Michael Molamphy (Jnr) or Christy Cormican.

TERRYGLASS IMPROVEMENTS ASSOC
The Christmas lights in Terryglass will be switched on at 5.50pm on Sunday Dec. 8th. There will be carol singing on the village green, hot drinks will be served and all are welcome.

CHRISTMAS CONCERT
The pupils of Kilbarron School will present their Christmas Concert on Monday 9th/Tuesday 10th December in Kilbarron Hall at 7pm. Tickets are available from the school and all are welcome.

CHRISTMAS POP UP SHOP
Our festive pop up shop will be open every weekend up to Christmas. We have an array of Food products, Crafts, Arts, Toys and gifts on offer. A free gift wrapping service will be provided with donations welcome for the Autism Centre in Borrisokane Community College. A range of tasty seasonal treats and old fashioned leaf tea will be available in the tearooms.

COMMUNITY ALERT
Firstly, can we all keep an eye on our elderly neighbours now that the weather is getting colder and enquire if there is anything they need.
The Tip of the Week is – Fire Prevention Hints; always place a spark guard in front of an open fire and keep the area around the fireplace free of combustible items. Don’t air clothes in front of the fire and clean your chimney regularly. Avoid overloading your electricity sockets, switch off and unplug electrical sockets when not in use.

LORRHA XMAS MARKET AND AUCTION
The Lorrha Xmas Market and Auction will take place on Sunday Dec. 9th from 1pm. Lots of fuel and fodder etc, for sale with Xmas fare in the hall. Santa will be arriving at 3pm.

CHURCH NEWS
Friday 6th Dec. is the First Friday.  Mass is in Kilbarron at 9am and in Terryglass at 7.30pm proceeded by Adoration at 6.30pm and Benediction at 7.20pm. Confession available before both Masses.

BINGO
There is Bingo every Monday in Terryglass Community Hall at 8.30pm sharp organised by the Shannon Rovers GAA Club with great money prizes, including an excellent Jackpot of €1,000. Contact Oliver Darcy for further information. The prizes are excellent with €15, €20 for a line and two lines respectively and full houses now range from €50, €70, €100 and €120. There is a flyer for €150 each week and the full house if the jackpot isn’t won is €100.
Buses are available from the surrounding area,i.e.Nenagh/Ardcroney/Borrisokane/Ballinderry and Ballingarry/Rathcabbin/Lorrha/Carrigahorig/Terryglass. Buses depart at 7pm and for further information contact Ken Daly 087 6273177 or 067 21988.

LOWER ORMOND ACTIVE RETIREMENT
The annual Christmas Party will be held in the Church of Ireland Hall, Borrisokane on Monday 9th December at 1pm. The menu choice is either Turkey and Ham or cod and for dessert Christmas pudding, trifle or chocolate gateau. There will be a hot drink on your arrival and the meal will be followed by music from Margaret and Rita and Seanie and dancing. Names and menu choice can be given to Jimmy Donnelly 067 38237 or Loretta Tiernan 28066. Chiropodist Emma will be available on the day for care of your feet. The end of year meeting will take place on Monday 16th Dec. at 2pm.
