Terryglass & Kilbarron Gathering 2013

As part of the Terryglass and Kilbarron Gathering 2013 we are currently surveying the Old Graveyard in Terryglass with a view to recording all the inscriptions, names and dates. Over the past two Saturdays and with the help of volunteers they have all been individually photographed and a sketch plan of the graveyard completed. We are continuing to record the remainder of the inscriptions on Saturday mornings with a view to completing the graveyard. All the information is inturn uploaded to historicgraves.ie were it can be searched for ancestors by those at home and abroad.
To date there are a total of 238 memorials within the graveyard all of which have been individually photographed and uploaded to historicgraves.ie. Approximately 65 of thses headstones have had their inscriptions recorded and also uploaded. Some names with associated dates already recorded include Hogan, Nolan, Kennedy, O’Meara, Tierney, Donohoe, Corboy and McCarthy along with many others. The earliest date recorded so far is 1770 and we’re hoping for some even earlier ones as the survey continues.
