THE LATE UNA KENNEDY
The death of Una Kennedy, nee Quinn, Lacken, Terryglass occurred on Tuesday 25th October. Removal took place on Wednesday evening from St. Joseph’s Funeral Home, Borrisokane , to the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Terryglass and after Requiem Mass on Thursday interment took place in the adjoining cemetery beside her late husband Willie. Una was a kind and friendly lady who had farmed with her husband in Lacken for many years. She enjoyed gardening and was a good neighbour who enjoyed the beauty of colour in her life. Sympathy is extended to her brothers Tony and Edward, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

SYMPATHY
Sympathy is extended to Aileen Cahalan, Curnamult, Terryglass, on the recent death of her brother Jarleth Tobin, Shinrone .

DEATH
The death has occurred of Maura Shaw, Cloughjordan, formerly Downey of Terryglass. Sympathy is extended to her sister Nora Hogan, nieces and nephews.

OVER 60’S CLUB
The Terryglass/Kilbarron Over 60’s Club is holding a party in Paddy’s Bar, Terryglass, on Sunday 20th November at 1.30pm. There is a choice of beef, chicken or salmon for the main course and either trifle or sponge pudding for your sweet. The afternoon will follow with music, song and dance with Seanie and the subsidized cost is €10. The organisers welcome everyone and would especially like to see more of our parishioners coming along for what will be a great afternoon, so give your name as soon as possible to Mary Prout, Monie Hogan or Loretta Tiernan.

The Parish Website is now on line and can be accessed on www.terryglasskilbarron.com. It carries information, useful phone numbers and photos of events around the parish. We ask that if you are looking for a service provider please support local enterprise and start your search on our Business Listing page where you will find a very useful list of all businesses in the parish. The website will be managed and updated weekly by the parish pastoral council.

JUMBLE SALE
It was like walking into Aladdin’s cave at the charity jumble sale in Terryglass. There was an enormous array of items and the organisers would like to thank everyone who donated items, who supported the sale and helped over the sale. Full details next week.

TERRYGLASS ICA
The next meeting is this Wednesday 2nd November at 8pm and hostesses for the night are Connie Maher and Margaret Molloy.

KILBARRON OLD SCHOOL WINTER PROGRAMME
A programme of classes and presentations are taking place in the Old School Hall, Kilbarron each Tuesday from 8-9.30pm. Pre-booking for all events is essential as spaces are limited. A flat fee of €5 applies for all classes.
The Tuesday programme is as follows: Nov. 8th – Embroidery (Lisa McGeeney), Nov. 15th – Understanding Banking (Pat O’Meara), Nov. 22nd – Manual Handling (Seamus O’Sullivan), Nov. 29th – Christmas Cooking (Jacque Sullivan) and Dec.13th – Festive Flower Arranging (Una Caulfield).

TIMBER SALE
The Timber Sale to fund raise for the Fr. John Molloy ‘Build For Hope’ project will take place on Sunday 20th November at 3pm in the Car Park in Kilbarron.  Michael McGeeney and Gerry O’Rourke are requesting your support of donations of timber or turf.
The fund raising Concert will be held in Terryglass Community Hall on Friday 2nd December.  For more information please contact Gerry on 067 22989, Michael on 22164.

COMMUNITY ALERT
The ‘Tip of the Week’ is to be aware of bogus callers, some burglars will try to trick their way into your home. A ‘distraction burglary’ is where a bogus caller will gain entry on a pretext or create a diversion so that an accomplice can sneak in separately.
Take precautions, do not open the door to anyone until you have checked who it is and what they want. Use your door viewer or chain limiter. Check identity where appropriate and do not leave strangers unattended at your doorstep. Ensure your backdoor is locked when you answer a call at the front door. Remember if in doubt keep them out.

BINGO
There is Bingo every Monday in Terryglass Community Hall at 8.30pm sharp organised by the Shannon Rovers GAA Club with great money prizes, including an excellent Jackpot of €1,000. Contact Oliver Darcy for further information. The prizes are excellent with €15, €30 and €50 for a line, two lines and a full house respectively and some full houses have been increased to €50 – €150. There is a flyer for €200 each week and the full house if the jackpot isn’t won is €100.
Buses are available from the surrounding area,i.e.Nenagh/Ardcroney/Borrisokane/Ballinderry and Ballingarry/Rathcabbin/Lorrha/Carrigahorig/Terryglass. Buses depart at 7pm and for further information contact Ken Daly 083 4007748 or 067 21988.    .

RURAL TRANSPORT
A bus is available to take parishioners from Terryglass, Ballinderry and Coolbawn to the Saturday 7.30pm Mass in Kilbarron and departs from Terryglass at 6.45pm.  For further information or to book a place please contact Loretta Tiernan 067 28066 or Mary Tierney 28167
The bus to Nenagh each Thursday departs Paddy’s, Terryglass at 10am, Ballinderry 10.10, Coolbawn (Molamphy’s) 10.20 arriving in Nenagh at 11am. The bus returns from Nenagh at 2.10pm .We urge you to consider availing of these services, which are free to Travel Pass holders. The bus operator is Ken Daly 083 4007748 or 067 21988 or if you require more information on any route please contact Louise 067 27088.
A bus also travels to Borrisokane each Monday departing from Terryglass around 1pm, via Ballinderry, Coolbawn and Carney Commons and arrives at 2pm and departs for home at 4pm. Services are door to door and booking can be made by contacting Ken Daly.

CHURCH NEWS
Please note changes to Mass times: Kilbarron Mass on Saturday at 7.30pm and Sunday 11am, Terryglass Sunday 9.30am.
Cemetery Sunday will be on Sunday 6th November in Terryglass New Cemetery after the 9.30am Mass, Kilbarron New Cemetery after the 11am Mass and Kilbarron Old Cemetery immediately afterwards. Terryglass Old Cemetery at 2pm and Finnoe Cemetery 2.45pm.
Remembrance Mass for the Holy Souls will take place on Saturday 12th November in Kilbarron Church at 7.30pm to remember all those who have died in our parish since last November. If you would like a family member or friend who died elsewhere during the year to be remembered on the night please submit their name in advance. Candles will be supplied and named for your loved one and there will be an opportunity during Mass to bring those to the altar.

SHANNON RANGERS FC
Rangers drew 3 – 3 with Streamstown last Sunday in Ballinderry in the league. The goals came from Austin Tierney (2) and Padraig O’Meara (1) in what was an exciting match with end to end play for 90 minutes. Well done to all the players who made the effort to come and play on the day. We are improving every game and in time that win will come.
Training every Wednesday night in the complex Borrisokane at 8pm sharp, new players welcome.
