THE LATE EDWARD FLYNN
The death occurred on February 3rd of Edward Flynn, at his residence, Rodeen House, Borrisokane. Removal took place on Saturday evening from Ryan’s Funeral Home, Nenagh, to Kilbarron Church and after Requiem Mass on Sunday morning interment took place in the adjacent cemetery. Eddy was a devoted husband, father and brother, a quiet gentleman who was well respected among the farming community and a good neighbour. Himself and his wife Mary enjoyed an evening of bingo during the week and were regular attendants in Terryglass. Sympathy is extended to his wife Mary, daughters Martina and Eimear, son Edward, sisters Eileen and Mary, brothers-in-law, relatives and friends.
WELCOME HOME
We welcome home Michael McGeeney, Gerry O’Rourke and Anthony Gernon who have just returned from their voluntary work trip to Kenya. They were partaking in the ‘Build For Hope’ project These volunteers are making a huge difference in the lives of children who are visually impaired by assisting in the building of a new 1,600 sq. metre home and last week saw them working flat out roofing this facility with the assistance of those on site. The work is well advanced with their work assignment well in hand with a good part of the next group’s work under way. The intense heat, change of food and the poverty are testing factors on the volunteers but the welcome they received was emotional and uplifting.
We will hear more from Michael, Gerry and Anthony on their experiences in Kenya in the near future.
COMMUNITY ALERT
The ‘Tip of the Week’ People in the parish are still continuing to receive unsolicited phone calls from people asking details of their personal accounts. Once again we strongly advise you never to give any personal details to callers who you have not positively verified. Every week someone seems to have received such calls and from experience these callers seem to be non-nationals, so please be careful.
