THE LATE KATHLEEN GARRY
The death of Kathleen Garry, Belgrove, occurred on June 30th. After reposing at Bushy Park Funeral Home on Tuesday evening, removal took place to Kilbarron Church. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday and burial took place in the Nenagh Road Cemetery, Borrisokane. Kathleen was a gentle and caring lady and a beloved sister. She had worked at Hanley Mills, she loved to garden and was a skilled knitter. Sympathy is extended to her sister Eileen, brothers-in-law Willie and Vincent, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

HISTORICAL SOCIETY
The next general meeting of the Kilbarron/Terryglass Historical Society will be held this Friday 11th July at 7.30pm in the Village Hall in Terryglass. There will be a presentation by Colm Hardy entitled ‘World War 1 and its connections to the Parish of Terryglass and Kilbarron’.
The talk is open to all and admission is free.

A WALK AMONG THE TREES
Open Day at Matt Fogarty’s national award winning Tree Farm and Nurseries, Ballinderry, on Saturday 19th July at 2pm. All are welcome to come and enjoy ‘a walk among the trees’ and view nature at its best.
Please bring footwear suitable for the weather.

BIRTHDAY GREETINGS
Birthday greetings are extended to Biddy Gleeson, Terryglass, who will celebrate her 88th birthday on 16th July. We wish Biddy many more years of health and happiness.

CONTINUED SUCCESS TO CILLIAN
Following on from winning his first Irish senior title two weeks ago Cillian Dunne won four Irish Junior titles last weekend winning the 100m, 200m,400m, and 800m in Santry stadium.
Cillian leaves for the UK this weekend where he will be competing in the same 4 events in the UK junior championships in Coventry. This is all part of his build up to the world junior championship which begin on August 3.
We wish Cillian all the best.

ATHLETIC SUCCESS
Congratulations to Katie Costello, Terryglass, who won a gold medal in U/14 Shot Putt in the recent Community Games in Templemore. We wish her continued success as she goes on to compete in the National Final in Athlone in August.

KILBARRON NEW CEMETERY
The fees for Kilbarron New Cemetery are now due. Payment may be made to the following: Tom Casey, Marie Starr, Willie Joe Tiernan or Jim O’Donoghue. €7 for an open grave and €5 for non-open graves.

TERRYGLASS IMPROVEMENTS ASSOC.
The weekly working evening meets in the village square at 7pm each Tuesday, volunteers are always welcome.
Once again please be vigilant regarding discarded litter and householders are encouraged to keep their own surrounds looking good.

KILBARRON DEVELOPMENT
Work continues every Tuesday evening in Kilbarron and if you can spare some time it would be much appreciated, meeting in the village around 7pm. Work is on-going in a general clean-up with brushing up all paths and all the area in the village.

BALLINDERRY VILLAGE IMPROVEMENTS
Ballinderry village is looking really well with colourful flowers and decorative pots of shrubs around the village and an excellent clean-up of the whole area, the Village Improvements group meets each Thursday at 7pm at Elsie Hogan’s.

COMMUNITY ALERT
The Tip of the Week is- Be sensible about your keys. Do not put an address on your keys or key-ring and do not hide an extra key under a door mat or flower pot. When driving always lock your car door and keep windows up and never leave your keys in the ignition when you leave your car, even for a few minutes. Do not leave packages or other tempting articles on view in a locked car, put them in the boot of the car out of sight. Never pick up hitch hikers.

CHURCH NEWS
The Cemetery Mass will take place in Terryglass on Sunday 13th July at 10am, please contact families outside the parish who have relatives buried here.

BINGO
There is Bingo every Monday in Terryglass Community Hall at 8.30pm sharp organised by the Shannon Rovers GAA Club with great money prizes, including an excellent Jackpot of €1,000. Contact Oliver Darcy for further information. The prizes are excellent with €15, €20 for a line and two lines respectively and full houses now range from €50, €70, €100 and €120. There is a flyer for €150 each week and the full house if the jackpot isn’t won is €100.
Buses are available from the surrounding area,i.e.Nenagh/Ardcroney/Borrisokane/Ballinderry and Ballingarry/Rathcabbin/Lorrha/Carrigahorig/Terryglass. Buses depart at 7pm and for further information contact Ken Daly 087 6273177 .
