OPENING OF TERRYGLASS VILLAGE GREEN
Terryglass was vibrant with a festival on Easter Sunday. A large crowd gathered to attend the official opening of Terryglass Village Green. All the speakers spoke with appreciation of the community spirit and co-operation that led to the development of Terryglass Green.
Among the guests were members of the very first committee who entered Terryglass into the Tidy Towns contest over 40 years ago. At the time, an entry could only be accepted through a bona vida club and the ICA Guild facilitated this. ICA members were in attendance and Terryglass was particularly honoured that Biddy Gleeson was there, as she is a founder member of the ICA Guild in 1949. Following a blessing by Fr. Michael Cooney, Joe Hogan, Chairman, introduced the other speakers. Ronan Gleeson, representing North Tipperary Leader Partnership, spoke admiringly on the village’s utilization of the Leader Grant. Dr. John Tierney, Dublin City Manager, officially cut the ribbon following an inspiring discourse on the village’s history and his emotional ties with the place. In conclusion he recited a poem he had written about Terryglass which encompassed the essence of his speech.

SHANNON RANGERS FC
Shannon Rangers played their last game of the season last Sunday in the league away to Ballymackey (b) but lost 2-1. Ballymackey scored 2 in the first half and Rangers missed a penalty in the second , the game opened up and Rangers got a good goal back through a John Flannery flicked header and were unlucky not to get a second when Keith Kelly hit the post with a strong shot, but it was not to be on the day.
Thank you to all who showed up on the Sunday and thanks to all the players and management and committee for a great season and the chance of a top 4 finish. We hope to have an end of season night out with maybe a ‘player of the year’ award and once more thanks to all for a great season.
