The marriage of Barry Cahalan and Lorraine Davis took place on Friday, 24th January, in Borrisokane Church. Barry is the son of Paddy and Ann Cahalan, Cloninaha, and Lorraine is the daughter of Tom and Florence Davis, Borrisokane. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Tom Kingston assisted by Gillian Kingston and Fr. Michael Cooney. Lorraine’s bride’s maids were her sister Andrea Davis and Sinead Cahalan, the groom’s sister. Barry’s best-man was Bryan Davis, the bride’s brother and groom’s man was his friend Alan Hogan. After their marriage Barry and Lorraine were joined by their families and many friends for a beautiful reception at Glasson House Hotel, Athlone. We wish Barry and Lorraine a long and happy life together in their home in Kyle Park.

The Derg, Terryglass, will once again celebrate St. Valentine’s with its ‘Magical Weekend of a Thousand Candles’ on Friday 14th February and Saturday 15th February. A fabulous menu (a la carte and St. Valentine Special) with a truly romantic, magical atmosphere, special harp recital from Roisin Heenan during dinner, followed on Saturday by singer and musician Maggie. Rehearsals are under way for this year’s production of J.B.Keane’s ‘The Year of the Hiker’ which will go on stage towards the end of March (dates to be furnished next week). We welcome back Phil Quigley as director again this year, who will be working hard with the cast to bring this John B. classic to life in Kilbarron.

Enrolment of pupils wishing to start Terryglass NS in September 2014 is now taking place. Please contact the Principal, Noreen, Sheridan, on 067 22269 before Friday 14th March.

The Tip of the Week is – Protecting your banking- never reveal your PIN number or password. Check your list of payees regularly to ensure everything is in order. Review the transactions on your credit card against receipts. If you make a payment on line, always double check you have entered the correct details and never allow your computer to remember your account and card number. Remove your log off properly from on line banking. Check your statements regularly, if you notice anything unusual or suspicious on your accounts report it immediately.

Kilbarron Operation Transformation continues each Tuesday night with circuit training in Kilbarron Hall on Tuesdays at 7.45pm. New members welcome.

The next ritual for First Holy Communion and Confirmation will take place this Sunday February 16th at the 11am Mass in Kilbarron.

There is Bingo every Monday in Terryglass Community Hall at 8.30pm sharp organised by the Shannon Rovers GAA Club with great money prizes, including an excellent Jackpot of €1,000. Contact Oliver Darcy for further information. The prizes are excellent with €15, €20 for a line and two lines respectively and full houses now range from €50, €70, €100 and €120. There is a flyer for €150 each week and the full house if the jackpot isn’t won is €100.

The first outing of 2014 will take place this Monday 17th February when the club will visit The Thatch, Ballycommon, for a meal followed by an afternoon of music, song and dance from the popular Seanie Gleeson. The choice of main course is Beef and Yorkshire pudding, Stuffed Turkey or Herbed Cod, for dessert, trifle, apple crumble or strawberry roulade.
