THE LATE MARY RYAN
The death occurred on Tuesday 6th August of Mary Ryan, nee O’Dwyer, Ballyscanlon, Coolbawn. After reposing at her residence on Thursday removal took place to the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Terryglass on Friday for Requiem Mass and burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Mary was a much loved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She was a very outgoing lady who always had time to stop and talk to everyone, an excellent neighbour and friend. Mary was one of the founder members of Kilbarron Apostolic Society and served as President of the society, she was instrumental in making items and raising money for the missions, she was also a member of Kilbarron Ladies Club. Mary was an excellent cook and liked nothing better than to spend time in her garden. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Sympathy is extended to her husband Paddy, sons Paddy, George, Tommy and Gerard, daughters Breda and Majella, daughters-in –law Mary, Yvonne and Anne, sons-in-law Pat and Donie, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters Nora and Kathleen, brothers Tom and Sean, relatives and friends

TERRYGLASS ARTS FESTIVAL
The 15TH Terryglass Arts Festival commences this Wednesday 14th August and runs until Sunday 18th August. The official opening takes place this Wednesday in Terryglass Festival Marquee at 7.30pm and all are very welcome, this is followed by a screening of Tony Donoghue’s award winning film ‘Irish Folk Furniture’. At 8.30pm there is a Celebratory Concert featuring Riona O’Madagain and Conor O’Meara.
This year the festival offers a vast array of workshops to suit all ages and must be seen festival exhibitions.
On Thursday it’s your chance to see the exciting Bee-Loud Glade in The Derg at 9pm and on Friday night at 8pm in Terryglass Church is 2013 star attraction ‘Vladimir’s Classic Twist’, when he performs with his band of classical musicians their unique fresh hybrid of classical music old and new. On Saturday night at the Quay it is the ever popular entertainments and the annual fireworks display after dark. Sunday is ‘Family Fun Day’ commencing at 2pm until 6pm with loads of entertainment, exhibitions, performances and music.

KILBARRON TIDY TOWNS
Work continues every Monday evening in Kilbarron and if you can spare some time it would be much appreciated, meeting in the square at 7.30pm.
The group will also be pleased to accept old jam jars with lids that can be re-used as part of the Tidy Towns Re-think, Re-use initiative, contact Ann Butler 087 6603648

The ‘Tip of the Week’- is to be wary of letters and phone calls advising you that you have won a prize or will be entered into a draw for money or other prizes. The bottom line is that these people are looking for your credit/debit card details. On no account give this information to anyone you do not know.

TERRYGLASS IMPROVEMENTS ASSOC.
The weekly ‘working evening’ meets in the village square at 7.30pm each Tuesday, volunteers are always welcome.

CHURCH NEWS
Masses for the feast of The Assumption of Our Lady are as follows: Kilbarron on Wednesday night August 14th at 8pm and in Terryglass at 9,30am on Thursday 15th August.

BINGO
There is Bingo every Monday in Terryglass Community Hall at 8.30pm sharp organised by the Shannon Rovers GAA Club with great money prizes, including an excellent Jackpot of €1,000. Contact Oliver Darcy for further information. The prizes are excellent with €15, €20 for a line and two lines respectively and full houses now range from €50, €70, €100 and €120. There is a flyer for €150 each week and the full house if the jackpot isn’t won is €100.
Buses are available from the surrounding area,i.e.Nenagh/Ardcroney/Borrisokane/Ballinderry and Ballingarry/Rathcabbin/Lorrha/Carrigahorig/Terryglass. Buses depart at 7pm and for further information contact Ken Daly 087 6273177 or 067 21988.

LOWER ORMOND ACTIVE RETIREMENT ASSOC.
The next outing of the club will be this Monday 19th August to The Thatch, Ballycommon, for a three course meal at 1pm. The afternoon will then continue with music from Seanie. There is a menu choice of roast stuffed turkey, beef and Yorkshire pudding or cod for the main course and a choice of dessert of trifle, apple crumble or strawberry roulade. The subsidized cost is €10 and names can be given to Jimmy Donnelly 067 38237or Loretta Tiernan 28066.
