WELL DONE CILLIAN
Congratulations to Cillian Dunne, Kilbarron, who was recently awarded the Munster Para-Athlete of the Year for 2017. Cillian is continuing to train hard for the World Games to be held in Portugal in December.

Terryglass/Kilbarron & Borrisonake/Aglish Ladies
Our social evenings return for another season on Wednesday 13th Sept. at 7.30pm in Aglish hall when Trevor, dancing instructor will give a taster session on ballroom dancing for all to enjoy. This will be followed by our AGM at 8.30pm. So come along and have your say on what we do over this season. Bring a friend. We welcome everyone from near and far.

COFFEE MORNING
Bridie O’Meara and friends will host a coffee morning in Ballinderry on Thursday 14th September in aid of Milford Hospice from 10m to 4pm. All are welcome.

POKER CLASSIC
Poker Classic to be held in the Yanks Inn, Borrisokane on Sunday 17th September next at 6:00 pm. Proceeds in aid of Borrisokane Care of the Aged and Cillian Dunne Training Fund. Entry €20 and buy back €10, prizes pro-rata.

LOWER ORMOND ACTIVE RETIREMENT

KILBARRON TERRYGLASS HISTORICAL SOCIETY
The next lecture will be held in conjunction with the Lorrha & Dorrha Historical Society and will be on Friday September 29th at 8pm in Lorrha Hall. It will be delivered by Alf Monaghan and entitled ‘Monastic Ireland – A Gift of the Nile!’ The talk will trace links with ancient Egypt to Irish monasticism and links between the early Irish Church and the Egyptian Coptic Church. Recent Irish discoveries such as the Faddan More Psalter – Egyptian papyrus found in an ancient book of psalms from a Tipperary bog -will also be discussed. Admission €5.

TRAINING COURSES
Are you aged between 16-21? Have you found yourself outside the formal education system but would like to obtain some qualifications while receiving an allowance? At Nenagh Community Training Centre (Nenagh CTC) St. John’s Place, we provide innovative programmes  that include woodwork, horticulture, catering, hairdressing, childcare and I.T., leading to QQI Level 3 and 4 qualifications. SHORELINES ARTS FESTIVAL
This year’s Shoreline’s Arts Festival takes place in Portumna from September 14th to 17th. The following are a few of the highlights this year:
Turf – theatre presented by The Rowan Tolley Company on Friday, 15th September @ 12.00PM (running time 50 mins) in The Irish Workhouse Centre. ​Admission: €8.
Essentially French ​celebrating the life, words and music of Percy French on Friday, 15th September @ 4.30PM (60 mins) in Portumna Retirement Village Social Centre. Admission: €5 (online or at the door).
Annual Shorelines Mass with the Park Singers under the direction of Órla Gillan on Sunday, 17th September at 11 am  in St. Brigid’s Catholic Church Portumna. The Park Singers are a four-part female choir from Dublin.
Drumming Workshop in Portumna Community School Hall on Sunday, 17th September from 3-5pm. Cost: €10 online or call 086 3471328; ​Ages: Adults & children 12+.

CHURCH NEWS
FIRST COMMUNION AND CONFIRMATION
Meetings for parents and guardians of children in First Communion and Confirmation classes this year will take place in Borrisokane N.S. on Tuesday 19th Sept. – 7.30pm for 1st Communion parents and 8.30pm for Confirmation parents.
JUSTICE, PEACE AND INTEGRITY OF CREATION
We invite you to join with Nenagh Parish in celebrating ‘Season of Creation’ on September 30th at 2.30pm in the Nenagh Pastoral Centre. We hope to plant what we can reap in the future and have a short discussion on the way the environment links our spirituality. Contact Fr. Ger fitzger@gmail.com

BALLINDERRY SPORTSFIELD LOTTO
The weekly Lotto goes to the continued upkeep and maintenance of the Pavilion and Sportsfield. We are asking that all parents, guardians and players over 18 years would contribute €2 per week to the Lotto, either to the officers of each club each week, or if you wish you may pay by ‘Top Up’ – yearly, 6 monthly or on a monthly basis.  Please contact Marcella at 087 6879502 to arrange this facility.

BINGO
There is Bingo every Monday in Terryglass Community Hall at 8.30pm sharp organised by the Shannon Rovers GAA Club with great money prizes, including an excellent Jackpot. The prizes are excellent with €15, €20 for a line and two lines respectively and full houses now range from €50, €70, €100 and €120. There is a flyer for €150 each week and the full house if the jackpot isn’t won is €100. Buses are available from the surrounding area i.e. Nenagh, Ardcroney, Borrisokane, Ballinderry and Ballingarry/Rathcabbin/Lorrha/Carrigahorig/ Terryglass.
