SYMPATHY
Sympathy is extended to the Boyle family on the death of Kit Goodison, nee Boyle, Tullow, Co. Carlow, formerly of Drominagh, who died recently.

KILBARRON/TERRYGLASS HISTORICAL SOCIETY
Kilbarron/Terryglass Historical Society will hold its AGM on this Thursday 16th October at 8pm in the Pavilion, Ballinderry. There will be a review of the very successful first year in existence and a discussion of upcoming topics and projects for 2015. After a very well received Walking Tour and presentation held as part of the Kilbarron 200 celebrations, the World War 1 Remembrance ceremony and numerous guest speakers, it is hoped that 2015 will be as successful. All members are asked to attend as officials will be elected at the AGM for the forthcoming year. New members are always welcome.

TERRYGLASS IMPROVEMENTS ASSOC
Terryglass Improvements Association will hold its AGM (2014) at 8pm on Wednesday 22nd October in Terryglass Community Hall. All are welcome.

A VOTE FOR MATT
The Just Forests National Tree Huggers Contest 2014 has been launched and local man, Matt Fogarty, is one of the competitors. The contest is about the tree that holds the most special meaning for that person. You can read Matts story and vote for him at www.lovemytree.ie during the month of October.

OPERATION TRANSFORMATION
Operation Transformation is in action again and Kilbarron Hall Committee is organising ‘Keep Fit’ classes in Kilbarron Hall on Wednesdays from 8-9pm, with a weekly ‘Weigh-in’ at Hannigan’s at 9pm. So why not come along and join the fun while losing some unwanted weight and getting fitter..

JUMBLE SALE
There are only ten days left to the yearly Charity Jumble Sale in Terryglass Community Hall on Halloween bank-holiday Saturday. Any saleable items such as bric-a-brac, books, toys, plants, pictures, home produce, home baking and any items that would make suitable raffle prizes would be most welcome. If you need donated items collected this can be arranged.
Volunteers are needed and willing help greatly appreciated, especially for the preparation of the sale and the clean up afterwards.
This year there is a new formula, the organisers are offering people the opportunity to make a donation to the charity the sale is run for and in return they may run a table or half table for their own cause.

USED CLOTHING COLLECTION
Please start collecting your used clothing, shoes, linens, household textiles, stuffed toys, in any condition once they are clean. Bags may be left into Kilbarron School any Friday from now on. Final collection date is November 10th.

COMMUNITY ALERT
The Tip of the Week is-to be aware of bogus callers, some burglars will try to trick their way into your home. A distraction burglary is when a bogus caller will gain entry on a pretext or will create a distraction so that their accomplice can sneak in separately.
Take precautions , do not open the door to anyone until you have checked who it is and what they want. Use your door viewer and chain limiter. Check identity where appropriate and do not leave strangers unattended at your doorstep. Ensure your backdoor is locked when you answer the front door. Remember when in doubt keep them out.

CHURCH NEWS
Cemetery Sunday will take place on Sunday 2nd November, starting in Kilbarron New Cemetery after 10am Mass and immediately afterwards in Kilbarron Old Cemetery and in Finnoe Cemetery at 12 noon. In Terryglass- New Cemetery at 2pm and Terryglass Old Cemetery immediately afterwards.

BINGO
There is Bingo every Monday in Terryglass Community Hall at 8.30pm sharp organised by the Shannon Rovers GAA Club with great money prizes, including an excellent Jackpot of €1,000. Contact Oliver Darcy for further information. The prizes are excellent with €15, €20 for a line and two lines respectively and full houses now range from €50, €70, €100 and €120. There is a flyer for €150 each week and the full house if the jackpot isn’t won is €100.
Buses are available from the surrounding area,i.e.Nenagh/Ardcroney/Borrisokane/Ballinderry and Ballingarry/Rathcabbin/Lorrha/Carrigahorig/Terryglass. Buses depart at 7pm and for further information contact Ken Daly 087 6273177 .

LOWER ORMOND ACTIVE RETIREMENT
On Monday 20th October the club visits The Derg, Terryglass, for a three course meal, menu choice is beef or trout and the dessert either the restaurant speciality, cherry trifle or rice. The afternoon will follow with music and dancing with our favourite Seanie. The subsidized cost is €10, names to Jimmy Donnelly 067 38237 or Loretta Tiernan 28066.
