WEDDING
The marriage of Maeve Foxton and Andrew Deasy took place in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Terryglass on Friday 28th June. Maeve is the daughter of Nigel and Mary Foxton, Carrigahorig and Andrew is the son of Ruaidhri and Marie Deasy, Fortmoy, Aglish. The ceremony was officiated by Fr. Michael Cooney and Rev. Stephen Neill.
Maeve’s bridesmaid was her friend Ailbhe O’Flaherty and the flower-girls were the groom’s cousins Hannah and Louise Deasy and his niece Isabelle Deasy. Andrew’s best-men were his brothers Michael and Ruaidhri. After receiving congratulations and good wishes from their families and guests a beautiful reception was held in Kinnitty Castle, Kinnitty.
We wish Maeve and Andrew a long and happy life together in their home in Treacht, Kinvara, Co. Clare.

KILBARRON AND TERRYGLASS HISTORICAL SOCIETY
The inaugural meeting of Kilbarron and Terryglass Historical Society was held on Friday 12th July in the Pavilion, Ballinderry Sportsfield. There was an excellent turnout with a wide variety of topics and proposed projects discussed. The next meeting is provisionally scheduled for August 9th at 8pm with a venue still to be arranged. SHANNON ROVERS GOLFING SOCIETY
The results of the Golfing Society’s outing to Roscrea Golf Club last Saturday are as follows:
1st Michael Tierney, 2nd Larry Dunne, Gross Pat Quinlan, 3rd Jack O’Donoghue, Front 9 Sean O’Donoghue, Back 9 Timmy Carroll, Longest Drive Larry Dunne and Nearest the Pin Sean Darcy.

TERRYGLASS ARTS FESTIVAL
This year’s Terryglass Arts Festival will run from Wednesday 14th August until Sunday 18th and once again the organisers have a brilliant selection of performers to entertain you. The opening night of this 15th Festival sees local talents Riona O’Madigain, Terryglass born, singer/song writer and Portumna’s Conor O’Meara, entertain you to an evening of enchanting sounds.
On Thursday be at The Derg when Bee-Loud Glade, a group of four talented performers will provide a rocking musical cabaret.
Friday night once again provides entertainment from this year’s star attraction Slovakian born violinist Vladimir and his band of classical musicians who will perform in Terryglass Church.

SYMPATHY
Sympathy is extended to Tony Gorman Bellevue, on the recent death of his brother Charlie Gorman, Adare and to the family of Sadie O’Meara, Rearcross formerly of Ryehill.

KILBARRON TIDY TOWNS
Work continues every Monday evening in Kilbarron and if you can spare some time it would be much appreciated, meeting in the square at 7.30pm. A general clean-up is on-going.
The new Notice Board featured in the car park is there for all notices and if you have a new notice you would like displayed on it please contact Midge O’ Meara.

COMMUNITY ALERT
The ‘Tip of the Week’- If anyone has seen or sees what they think are suspicious vehicles/persons in the area, please contact the Gardai. Be alert to strange vehicles passing by the same road many times or vehicles in lay-bys that look suspicious. If contacting the Guardai to report a suspicious vehicle give as good a description as possible e.g. van/car/truck, colour, make, model and of course the best information of all is a registration number, or even part of one. Remember you must never challenge anyone behaving suspiciously or put yourself in danger.

TERRYGLASS IMPROVEMENTS ASSOC.
The weekly ‘working evening’ meets in the village square at 7.30pm each Tuesday, volunteers are always welcome. Great work is being done. Once again please be vigilant regarding discarded litter and householders are encouraged to keep their own surrounds looking good.

KILBARRON CHURCH 200
You are invited to a meeting this Wednesday 17th July at 8.30pm in the Old School, Kilbarron to discuss appropriate ways of marking the Bi-centenary of Kilbarron Church in 2014. All are welcome.

LOWER ORMOND ACTIVE RETIREMENT
Our Summer Party will take place this Monday 22nd July in the Church of Ireland Hall, Borrisokane at 1pm. There is a choice of either turkey or cod for the main course and for dessert trifle, apple pudding or chocolate gateau, the subsidized cost is €10.  The afternoon will continue with music, song and dance with music supplied by Margaret and Rita and Seanie. ST VINCENT DE PAUL
St. Vincent de Paul will open a furniture store in Kenyon St. car-park this Saturday 20th July at 10am. Donations of furniture are most welcome, contact 067 31313. St. Vincent’s clothes shop at 37/38 Mitchell St. is open Mon-Fri from 10am-5pm. All monies raised stays in Nenagh to support those in Nenagh and surrounding parishes.

BINGO
There is Bingo every Monday in Terryglass Community Hall at 8.30pm sharp organised by the Shannon Rovers GAA Club with great money prizes, including an excellent Jackpot of €1,000. Contact Oliver Darcy for further information. The prizes are excellent with €15, €20 and €50 for a line, two lines and a full house respectively. There is a flyer for €150 each week and the full house if the jackpot isn’t won is €100.
Buses are available from the surrounding area,i.e.Nenagh/Ardcroney/Borrisokane/Ballinderry and Ballingarry/Rathcabbin/Lorrha/Carrigahorig/Terryglass. Buses depart at 7pm and for further information contact Ken Daly 087 6273177 or 067 21988.
