THE LATE WILLIAM JOE HOGAN
The death occurred last week of Willie Joe (Doe) Hogan, Toomevara and formerly of Cornalack, Terryglass. After Funeral Mass on Monday in Toomevara burial took place in Terryglass cemetery. Willie Joe was a much respected member of the farming community and was a highly talented hurler, playing with the Shannon Rovers and for his county. Sympathy is extended to his wife, sons and daughter, his brothers, sisters and relatives.

A WALK AMONG THE TREES
Open Day at Matt Fogarty’s national award winning Tree Farm and Nurseries, Ballinderry, on Saturday 19th July at 2pm. All are welcome to come and enjoy ‘a walk among the trees’ and view nature at its best.
Please bring footwear suitable for the weather.

ROVERS REUNION
Shannon Rovers Hurling Club has pleasure inviting the surviving members and the families of the deceased members, to a reunion of the 1947-48 U/15 North and County Hurling Champions. in the Pavilion, Ballinderry, on Saturday 26th July at 4pm. We are hoping that family members of the team listed below will join us to honour this team. As young teenagers in the late 1940’s for many of the team life was hard, most of them walked several miles to school and to training sessions in Pat Cahalan’s field. By the end of the 1950’s ten of the panel had emigrated to find work, a few returned over the years. Of the panel of twenty-seven, nineteen are still with us and in good health. We hope the majority of them will be with us on July26th. We wish them continued good health and to the families of the deceased members we sympathise with them on their loss. TERRYGLASS ARTS FESTIVAL
Terryglass Arts Festival runs from Wednesday 13th -Sunday 17th August and once again the organisation has a brilliant selection of entertainers and workshops.
Jimmy McCarthy will perform in Terryglass Church on the Friday night, tickets €25. Renowned theatre director Roland Jaquarello and his master classes will take place on Friday and Saturday with two sessions daily. On Thursday at 8pm enjoy the hilarious comedy ‘The Year of the Moving Statues’ in Terryglass Hall, tickets €10.

TERRYGLASS IMPROVEMENTS ASSOC.
The weekly working evening meets in the village square at 7pm each Tuesday, volunteers are always welcome.
Once again please be vigilant regarding discarded litter and householders are encouraged to keep their own surrounds looking good.

KILBARRON DEVELOPMENT
Work continues every Tuesday evening in Kilbarron and if you can spare some time it would be much appreciated, meeting in the village around 7pm. Work is on-going in a general clean-up and maintenance of flower beds and grass.

BALLINDERRY VILLAGE IMPROVEMENTS
Ballinderry village continues to improve each week showing the enthusiastic work of the Village Improvements group that meets each Thursday at 7pm at Elsie Hogan’s.

WEDDINGS
Congratulations are extended to Ciara Stack and Dermot Murphy, Joanne Tierney and Brian Frehill and Michael O’Meara and Elaine Hackett who were recently married. We wish each of the happy couples a long and happy life together.

COMMUNITY ALERT
The Tip of the Week is- If anyone has seen or sees what they think are suspicious vehicles/persons in the area please contact the Gardai. Be alert to strange vehicles passing by the same road many times or vehicles in lay-bys that look suspicious. If contacting the Gardai to report a suspicious vehicle give as good a description as possible e.g. van/car/truck, colour make/model and of course the best information of all is a registration number, even part of one. Remember you must never challenge anyone behaving suspiciously or put yourself in danger.

BINGO
There is Bingo every Monday in Terryglass Community Hall at 8.30pm sharp organised by the Shannon Rovers GAA Club with great money prizes, including an excellent Jackpot of €1,000. Contact Oliver Darcy for further information. The prizes are excellent with €15, €20 for a line and two lines respectively and full houses now range from €50, €70, €100 and €120. There is a flyer for €150 each week and the full house if the jackpot isn’t won is €100.
Buses are available from the surrounding area,i.e.Nenagh/Ardcroney/Borrisokane/Ballinderry and Ballingarry/Rathcabbin/Lorrha/Carrigahorig/Terryglass. Buses depart at 7pm and for further information contact Ken Daly 087 6273177 .
