FAMILY FUN DAY
Family Walk and BBQ in aid of funds for “Kilbarron Red Devils” Relay for Life team will take place on next Saturday, Aug 22nd. The walk will follow the ‘Kevinstown loop’ and begins at 4pm, with BBQ and refreshments being served afterwards in the village. Kids activities include face painting, bracelet braiding, nail painting and much more. We will finish off the evening with night time entertainment in Hannigans, including a disco, finger food and raffle with lots of great prizes.

RECENT WEDDINGS
Congratulations to Pamela Hayes and Michael Hogan, Carney who were married recently in Kilbarron Church, and also to Charlene Burke, Kilbarron and Liam O’Connor, Sligo who were married in Borrisokane recently. We wish both couples a long and happy future together.

NENAGH SHOW SUCCESS
Well done to everyone from the parish who won prizes at the Nenagh Show on August Bank Holiday Monday. Winners include – Rachel Cleary, Glenaveigh who won 3rd for Best Single Herb. Megan Dunne, Kylebeg, Kilbarron won 3rd in Best Pastry Tart. Eva Burke, Firgrove won 3rd in 6 Fruit Scones. Margaret Cleary, Glenaveigh won 1st in Best Bantam. Niamh Slattery, Lesseragh, Coolbawn won 3rd with her Portrait in the photography section and her sister Ciara Slattery won 1st in the Sunset class of the Photography section.

RELAY FOR LIFE
Well done to all members of the Kilbarron Red Devils team who took part in last weekend’s Relay in Toomevara. It was a very enjoyable 24 hours, and whether they came and walked for one hour or endured the overnight vigil, everyone can be very proud of their efforts. All money raised at the event goes to the Irish Cancer Society.

CANCER ADVICE
You are invited by Hayes & Hayes Pharmacy, Portumna to get free advice on how to prevent cancer, information on spotting the early signs and any other queries you may have on Wednesday August 19th when the Marie Keating Mobile Unit visits the pharmacy with their nurse Phil. All welcome between 10.30am – 3.30pm.

PORTUMNA’S SHORELINES ARTS EXHIBITION 2015
This year’s Arts Exhibition will run this year from 4th-26th September at The Gallery at The Workhouse. Local artists wishing to submit a piece are asked to bring it to the Workhouse on Monday 24th August from 6-7.30 pm. Further details from 086-3195603.

CHURCH NEWS
Baptism
We welcome Francis Michael Ryan, Roscrea, into our Christian community.
EUCHARISTIC ADORATION is now taking place each Wednesday in Kilbarron Church from 10am to 3pm, and 7pm to 8pm. All are welcome to drop in during these hours to say a quiet prayer.

BINGO
There is Bingo every Monday in Terryglass Community Hall at 8.30pm sharp organised by the Shannon Rovers GAA Club with great money prizes, including an excellent Jackpot of €1,000. Contact Oliver Darcy for further information. The prizes are excellent with €15, €20 for a line and two lines respectively and full houses now range from €50, €70, €100 and €120. There is a flyer for €150 each week and the full house if the jackpot isn’t won is €100. Buses are available from the surrounding area i.e. Nenagh/Ardcroney/ Borrisokane/BallinderryandBallingarry/Rathcabbin/Lorrha/Carrigahorig/ Terryglass.
