SHANNON RANGERS FC
Shannon Rangers recorded their 3rd win in a close 2-1 victory over Noreside last Sunday. Rangers had more of the pressure in the opening 45 minutes. However Noreside struck first against the run of play with a long range effort to take the lead. A Padraic O’Meara penalty just after half time saw Rangers level the game and with Rangers being the more dominant side Padraic produced a fantastic solo run from just inside the Noreside half and finished it superbly to put the visitors 2-1 ahead, taking his personal tally to 8 goals. Rangers found themselves on the back foot for the last 15 minutes of the match as Noreside pressed hard for an equaliser and they saw themselves denied a goal in a combination of great work from the goal keeper, Keith Kelly, and the woodwork. Both had chances coming but in the end the Rangers defence stood strong and we walked away with a deserved 3 points.
Training continues every Wednesday night in the complex, Borrisokane at 8pm sharp. It is important that all players attend and as ever new players are more than welcome. Check the fixtures for next week’s game, all support greatly appreciated.
