ROVERS REUNION
The reunion of the 1947-48 U/15 North and County champions took place last Saturday and was a resounding success. Members and their families turned out in great numbers for this event that saw team mates renewing old friendships and exchanging long forgotten stories.
The medals were presented to the team members or their representative by Tony Reddan ( Goal-keeper of the century} and David Moran was MC giving a brief history of each person as his medal was handed over. A booklet was also given telling the story of juvenile hurling in the Shannon Rovers from 1944-52, the work of local sport historian Frank Moran.
Refreshments were served afterwards and people took this opportunity to meet the families of their fellow players and especially those representing the deceased members who were fondly remembered.
An enormous thank you is due to Frank Moran, the event was his brainchild and he planned and organised it with dedication from day one. A thank you is also due to the Shannon Rovers Juvenile Club.
