BACK TO SCHOOL
With both the national and secondary schools re-opening this week, we wish all the children well as they head back to their class rooms. Whether it’s a child’s first day in junior infants, their first day in secondary school or the even bigger step of moving to college this can be an emotional time for families, but it’s also the start of a new adventure in the children’s lives.

LOWER ORMOND ACTIVE RETIREMENT

GOLF CLASSIC
In January 2018 local men, Gerry O’Meara, Ballinderry and Tommy Keane, Borrisokane will travel to Mombasa, Kenya to join the Ray of Sunshine Foundation to build a rescue home for boys used in the sex traffic industry. To help raise funds for the project a Golf Classic will be held in Nenagh Golf Club on Friday, September 8th with a Shot Gun start at 3pm. Teams of 4 cost €100, or you can sponsor a tee box for €50. SYMPATHY
The death occurred on Sunday August 20th of MaryJo Hogan, Cloninaha. We extend our sincere sympathy to her husband Tony, her sons Ger, Pat, Martin, her daughters Ann, Carmel, Mary and their families, her brother Patrick, sisters Nora and Mairead, relatives and many friends. Funeral Mass for MaryJo was celebrated in Terryglass Church on Wednesday, August 23rd with burial in the adjoining cemetery. May she rest in peace.

We extend our sincere sympathy to Noreen Sheridan, Terryglass N.S. on the recent death of her mother, Christina Sheridan, Portroe. May she rest in peace.

ALL-IRELAND SUCCESS
Congratulations to all our local musicians who took part in the recent Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann in Ennis and in particular to Keelan McGrath, Springfield and Liam Tierney, Macloon who both brought home Ill-Ireland titles.

CHURCH NEWS
FIRST FRIDAY on 1st SEPTEMBER MASSES: Kilbarron – 9am.
Terryglass – 8pm preceded by Adoration : 7pm. Benediction : 7.50pm Confessions will be available before both Masses.
INVITATION – EXPERIENCE DIFFERENT WAYS OF PRAYING THE GOSPELS

BALLINDERRY SPORTSFIELD LOTTO
The weekly Lotto goes to the continued upkeep and maintenance of the Pavilion and Sportsfield. We are asking that all parents, guardians and players over 18 years would contribute €2 per week to the Lotto, either to the officers of each club each week, or if you wish you may pay by ‘Top Up’ – yearly, 6 monthly or on a monthly basis.  Please contact Marcella at 087 6879502 to arrange this facility.

BINGO
There is Bingo every Monday in Terryglass Community Hall at 8.30pm sharp organised by the Shannon Rovers GAA Club with great money prizes, including an excellent Jackpot. The prizes are excellent with €15, €20 for a line and two lines respectively and full houses now range from €50, €70, €100 and €120. There is a flyer for €150 each week and the full house if the jackpot isn’t won is €100. Buses are available from the surrounding area i.e. Nenagh, Ardcroney, Borrisokane, Ballinderry and Ballingarry/Rathcabbin/Lorrha/Carrigahorig/ Terryglass.
