BIRTHDAY GREETINGS
Birthday greeting are extended to Annie Burke, Carrigowen, Carney, who celebrates her 95th birthday on Friday 5th July. We wish Annie many more years of health and happiness.

KILBARRON/TERRYGLASS HISTORICAL SOCIETY
Do You Know Something We Don’t ?  Would You Like To Share It?
A meeting will be held on Friday 12th July at 8pm in the Sports Field Pavilion, Ballinderry, with a view to setting up a Parish Historical Society. It is open to everyone and anyone who has or would like to have an interest in history, especially the history of the parish. This is just an information evening and to get people’s views, so do come along.
We have a wealth of history in our parish and it would be lovely to be able to form a forum where we could each share our own stories and our own history.

SHANNON ROVER’S GOLF SOCIETY
The second outing of 2013 for the Shannon Rover’s Golf Society is to Roscrea Golf Club on Saturday 13th July. Tee time 8.45am-10am.

SHANNON RANGERS FC
Training continues for the junior team Wednesday night at 9pm in St. Paul’s Boxing Club, Nenagh and training in Ballinderry Sportsfield during the weekend. Pre-season friendlies are also coming up, players should keep an eye on their texts for more information. There has been good attendance so far with a good reaction to training so far, so keep up the good work lads,
Membership is now due for junior team players, this has been set at €50 for the year, this must be paid to Ronan Fox or David Whelan ASAP.

KILBARRON TIDY TOWNS
Work is continuing to go well in Kilbarron village and surrounds, and this can be seen from  the tidiness and work on grass and flower beds, if you can spare some time on a Monday evening it would be much appreciated, meeting in the square around 7pm.

WELCOME
We welcome into our parish Kate Leenane who was recently baptised.

OVER 60’S CLUB
The Terryglass/Kilbarron Over 60’s Club and ICA are planning an outing to Galway on Wednesday 17th July. The bus will depart from Ballinderry at around 10.30am and travel to the city for some shopping, then to The Galleon for a three course meal and an afternoon in Salthill. Names can be given to Mary Prout, Loretta Tiernan or Monie Hogan. All are most welcome.

DEATH
The death occurred last week of Mary Ryan, nee O’Meara, Nenagh and originally from Lisquillabeen, Coolbawn. Sympathy is extended to her family.

COMMUNITY ALERT
The ‘Tip of the Week’- Keeping your home safe while on holiday. If you have a domestic alarm inform your monitoring centre if you are absent and ensure nominated key holders will attend promptly to any activation. Make full use of light timing devises. If you are going to be away from your home for a long period notify the Garda Station. Carry out housekeeping exercises around the grounds of the house and remove or secure any unsecured items. Arrange for a neighbour or relation to collect your mail. Be aware of any insurance limitations on vacant properties.

TERRYGLASS IMPROVEMENTS ASSOC.
The weekly ‘working evening’ meets in the village square at 7.30pm each Tuesday, volunteers are always welcome. Great work is being done. Once again please be vigilant regarding discarded litter and householders are encouraged to keep their own surrounds looking good.

CHURCH NEWS
The annual Cemetery Mass will take place in Terryglass this Friday 5th July, at 8pm. It is also the First Friday and Adoration is at 7pm and Benediction at 7.50pm. The First Friday Mass is in Kilbarron at 9am and Confession will be available before both Masses.
The Annual Killaloe Diocesan Pilgrimage to Knock Shrine is this Sunday 7th July. Led by Bishop Kieran O’Reilly SMA. Ceremonies begin at 2.30pm.

KILBARRON CHURCH 200
You are invited to a meeting on Wednesday 17th July at 8.30pm in the Old School, Kilbarron to discuss appropriate ways of marking the Bi-centenary of Kilbarron Church in 2014. All are welcome.

LOWER ORMOND ACTIVE RETIREMENT
Our Summer Party will take place on Monday 22nd July in the Church of Ireland Hall, Borrisokane at 1pm. There is a choice of either turkey or cod for the main course and for dessert trifle, apple pudding or chocolate gateau, the subsidized cost is €10.  The afternoon will continue with music, song and dance with music supplied by Margaret and Rita and Seanie. BINGO
There is Bingo every Monday in Terryglass Community Hall at 8.30pm sharp organised by the Shannon Rovers GAA Club with great money prizes, including an excellent Jackpot of €1,000. Contact Oliver Darcy for further information. The prizes are excellent with €15, €20 and €50 for a line, two lines and a full house respectively. There is a flyer for €150 each week and the full house if the jackpot isn’t won is €100.
Buses are available from the surrounding area,i.e.Nenagh/Ardcroney/Borrisokane/Ballinderry and Ballingarry/Rathcabbin/Lorrha/Carrigahorig/Terryglass. Buses depart at 7pm and for further information contact Ken Daly 087 6273177 or 067 21988.
