Weekly News 6th March 2016

WELL DONE JOE
Local businessman Joe Hannigan put in a tremendous performance in his bid for a Dail seat in the recent General Election. He ran an election campaign to be proud of, with a large number of supporters on the canvass trail every evening for several weeks. Joe received 4970 first preference votes and started the race in 3rd place after the first tally but unfortunately as the count progressed the transfers did not come his way. The end result means that we in the Lower Ormond area have no local representation in the new government – no longer part of Tipperary and a definite afterthought in Offaly.
