OPEN DAY ON FOGARTY TREE FARM
There will be an ‘Open Day’ on Fogarty Tree Farm this Sunday 8th July commencing at 1.30pm. Join Matt and gardening expert Terriesa Torode for an informative walk on his tree farm and share in Matt’s passion for the many different varieties of trees. This event is totally free.

TERRYGLASS/KILBARRON PIONEER ASSOCIATION
A Pioneer Mass and Presentation took place in Terryglass Church last Saturday when 40 members of the Association were presented with certificates, medals and pins to mark their years of membership. Fr. Cullen Diplomas (60 years) were presented to Bridie O’Meara, Biddy Gleeson, Mary Parkinson, Sean Moore, John Slattery, Tom Casey, Matt Fogarty, Paddy Ryan, Mikie Parkinson and Tom Slattery. Gold Awards were presented to Monie Hogan, Mary Quirke, Breda Kennedy, Mary Duffy, Mary O’Grady, Phyllis Tiernan, Aileen Cahalan, John Tiernan, Edward Ryan, Mike Cahalan, Gerry Guest, Paddy Casey, PJ Downey, Seamus Dunne and Nick Prout. 40th Awards went to Marian Starr, Mary Prout, Breda Cormican, Gertie Meagher, Sadie Tierney, Joan Tiernan, Oliver Darcy, Liam Hogan, John Tierney, Francis Tiernan, Brendan Starr and Christy Cormican and Silver Awards to Tom Burke, John Costello and John Cahalan,
After the memorable service tea was served in the Parochial House and congratulation to all involved in organising the occasion.

BIRTHDAY GREETINGS
Birthday greetings are extended to Annie Burke, Carrigowan, Carney, who celebrates her 94th birthday on July 5th. We wish Annie many more years of health and happiness.

ROVERS GOLFING SOCIETY
The next outing of the Shannon Rovers Golfing Society takes place on Saturday 14th July at Thurles Golf Course and the tee time is 9-10am. For further information please contact Donal Hourigan on 087 2374742.

KILBARRON NEW GRAVEYARD
The fees for Kilbarron New Graveyard are now due. Payments may be made to Tom Casey, Marie Starr, Willie Joe Tiernan or Jim O’Donoghue. Open grave fee is €7 and a non-open grave is €5.
Everybody who has visited the graveyard would have to compliment the committee, especially Willie Joe, on the excellent job they do in keeping it maintained to such a high standard.

OVER 60’S CLUB
The Terryglass/Kilbarron Over 60’s Club will travel to Galway on Wednesday 11th July. There will be shopping in the city centre, then a three course meal in ‘The Galleon’ Salthill and another visit to the Royal Tara Workshop. If you wish to come with us names must be given immediately to Loretta Tiernan 067 28066, Mary Prout  22172, Monie Hogan 22103, The subsidized cost is €10 and the pickup time in Ballinderry is 10.30am followed by Terryglass at 10.35am, for further information on pickups contact Loretta.

CHILDRENS SUMMER CRAFT WORKSHOPS
Summer Craft Workshops for children, including mask decoration and canvas painting, will be held throughout the summer in the River Run House, Terryglass, for three days per week. For information contact Aileen Hogan, 087 2892394/

TERRYGLASS IMPROVEMENTS ASSOC.
The weekly ‘working nights’ meet in the village square at 7.30pm each Tuesday, volunteers are always welcome. Lots of work is being done to achieve the high standards of the Tidy Town Competition judges. Please continue to be vigilant regarding litter.

COMMUNITY ALERT
The ‘Tip of the Week’- Is to be on the lookout for €1 and €2 coins that are circulating in the area that are in fact pre-euro coins from such countries as France and Portugal. These coins look very like the euro but are slightly lighter in weight.

BINGO
There is Bingo every Monday in Terryglass Community Hall at 8.30pm sharp organised by the Shannon Rovers GAA Club with great money prizes, including an excellent Jackpot of €1,000. Contact Oliver Darcy for further information. The prizes are excellent with €15, €20 and €50 for a line, two lines and a full house respectively. There is a flyer for €150 each week and the full house if the jackpot isn’t won is €100.
Buses are available from the surrounding area,i.e.Nenagh/Ardcroney/Borrisokane/Ballinderry and Ballingarry/Rathcabbin/Lorrha/Carrigahorig/Terryglass. Buses depart at 7pm and for further information contact Ken Daly 083 4007748 or 067 21988.

RURAL TRANSPORT
A bus is available to take parishioners from Coolbawn, Ballinderry and Terryglass to the Saturday 8pm Mass in Terryglass and departs from Kilbarron at 7.15pm.  For further information or to book a place please contact Loretta Tiernan 067 28066 or Mary Tierney 28167
The bus to Nenagh each Thursday departs Paddy’s, Terryglass at 10am, Ballinderry 10.10, Coolbawn (Molamphy’s) 10.20 arriving in Nenagh at 11am. The bus returns from Nenagh at 2.10pm .We urge you to consider availing of these services, which are free to Travel Pass holders. The bus operator is Ken Daly 083 4007748 or 067 21988 or if you require more information on any route please contact Louise 067 27088. A bus travels each Friday from Nenagh via Borrisokane and Ballingarry to Bingo in Birr.
A bus also travels to Borrisokane each Monday departing from Terryglass around 1pm, via Ballinderry, Coolbawn and Carney Commons and arrives at 2pm and departs for home at 4pm. Services are door to door and booking can be made by contacting Ken Daly

CHURCH NEWS
Cemetery Mass in Terryglass takes place this Friday 6th July at 8pm. This is an opportunity for people to come, remember and pray for those who have died. Please contact families from outside the parish who have relatives or friends buried in our cemeteries.
The First Friday is Friday 6th July and Mass will be in Kilbarron at 9am and in Terryglass as above.

LOWER ORMOND ACTIVE RETIREMENT ASSOC.
Our Summer Party will take place on Monday 16th July at 1pm, in the Church of Ireland Hall. There will be a choice of either lamb or salmon for the main course and a choice of trifle, chocolate gateaux or apple pudding for your dessert, the afternoon will follow with music and dancing to the music of Margaret and Rita and Seanie Gleeson. Please give your name and menu choice as soon as possible to Jimmy Donnelly, Loretta Tiernan or Pat O’Donnell, the subsidized cost is €10.  Also note that chiropodist Emma Stanley will be in attendance on the 16th.
The club continues to meet every Monday throughout the summer from 2-4pm for exercises for older people, bingo, refreshments and chat and again on Thursday for walking etc.
