THE LATE JAMES TIERNAN
The death of Jim Tiernan, Carney Commoms, occurred at his residence on January 31st. After reposing at his home on Saturday, removal took place to Kilbarron Church on Sunday morning for Funeral Mass, followed by burial in the adjacent cemetery. Jim was a beloved husband, father and brother. He had lived and farmed in Co. Galway for a number of years before returning to his native parish. Jim served his community giving time to the Parish Council, Kilbarron NS Management Board and the Shannon Rover’s Camogie Club and also assisting at the Apostolic Society’s annual sales. Sympathy is extended to his wife Kathy, daughter Catherina, sons Declan, Paul and Conor, daughter-in-law Linda, son-in-law Ciaran, sisters Angeline and Phyllis, brothers Paddy, Jack and Billy, relatives, neighbours and friends.

SYMPATHY
Sympathy is extended to Anne Tierney, Terryglass, on the recent death of her mother Mary Ryan, Toomevara.

MAGICAL WEEKEND OF A THOUSAND CANDLES
The Derg, Terryglass, will once again celebrate St. Valentine’s with its ‘Magical Weekend of a Thousand Candles’ on Friday 14th February and Saturday 15th February. DEATH
The untimely death of Miriam Cass, Co.Waterford, niece of the late Eileen Carroll, Brookfield, Coolbawn, occurred last week. She had been a regular visitor to the parish since her childhood and was well known in the area. Sympathy is extended to her many cousins in the parish.

TERRYGLASS ICA
The next meeting is this Wednesday 5th February at 8pm, in Terryglass Community Hall. New members are always welcome.

COMMUNITY ALERT
The Tip of the Week is – People still continue to receive phone calls from people asking details of their personal accounts. Once again we strongly advise you never to give your personal details to callers who you have not positively verified. Just put the phone down as these calls are usually from outside countries with numbers that look like our mobile numbers.

KILBARRON OPERATION TRANSFORMATION
Kilbarron Operation Transformation continues each Tuesday night with circuit training in Kilbarron Hall on Tuesdays at 7.45pm. New members welcome.

CHURCH NEWS
Friday 7th February is the First Friday and Mass is in Kilbarron at 9am and in Terryglass at 7.30pm proceeded by Adoration at 6.30pm and Benediction at 7.20pm. Confessions available before both Masses.
We are expecting to change the number of weekend Masses throughout our cluster. We invite parishioners to give an idea of their preferred times in a survey to be carried out this weekend at all Masses. It is proposed to keep the current system of alternating the Winter/Summer Masses between both Churches. You will be asked to give your preference for Sat. evening Mass either 7pm, 7.30pm or 8pm. There will be only one Sunday morning Mass either10am, 10.30am or 11am.

BINGO
There is Bingo every Monday in Terryglass Community Hall at 8.30pm sharp organised by the Shannon Rovers GAA Club with great money prizes, including an excellent Jackpot of €1,000. Contact Oliver Darcy for further information. The prizes are excellent with €15, €20 for a line and two lines respectively and full houses now range from €50, €70, €100 and €120. There is a flyer for €150 each week and the full house if the jackpot isn’t won is €100.
Buses are available from the surrounding area,i.e.Nenagh/Ardcroney/Borrisokane/Ballinderry and Ballingarry/Rathcabbin/Lorrha/Carrigahorig/Terryglass. Buses depart at 7pm and for further information contact Ken Daly 087 6273177 or 067 21988.

LOWER ORMOND ACTIVE RETIREMENT ASSOC.
The first outing of 2014 will take place on Monday 17th February when the club will visit The Thatch, Ballycommon, for a meal followed by an afternoon of music, song and dance from the popular Seanie Gleeson. The choice of main course is Beef and Yorkshire pudding, Stuffed Turkey or Herbed Cod, for dessert, trifle, apple crumble or strawberry roulade.
