Baptism

We welcome Cara Grace Evans who was Baptised recently in Terryglass into our Christian Community.

Ash Wednesday is this coming Wednesday and the first day of Lent. It is a period of reparation in honour of the Passion of Christ. Ashes, reminding us of our mortality, are blessed and distributed with the words “turn away from sin and be faithful to the gospel”. This is a time of fasting, penance and prayer.

Distribution of the ashes as last year, taking care to avoid Covid risk with contact.   Ashes is a reminder of the meaning of life and the continual call to a change of heart with God’s grace

FIRST FRIDAY on next Friday, March 4th.  Mass in Kilbarron at 9am.

Pastoral Area Synodal Pathway We are beginning our Synod Journey This Lent. Meeting for full pastoral councils in each parish on Tuesday 8th March at 8pm in Borrisokane Community Centre Birr Rd. There is also an open invitation to everyone to attend and the meeting will be facilitated. The Church wants to hear from you! Some of the questions below may help –

  • What is my experience of the Church at present in my parish/pastoral area?
  • Do I have any sense that we need to be reaching out to those who are hurting or in need or who may find faith today difficult?
  • Do I have a sense of belonging in my parish community/pastoral area?

FAMILY WALK/FUN RUN – A Kilbarron NS Parent’s Association fund raiser takes place on Sunday March 6th at 12 noon.  5km loop, starting from Kilbarron Car Park.  All welcome.

Trócaire 2022 – this year the Thandekile family in Zimbabwe are on the Lent Boxes, families like these had to walk many kilometres to access medical care. Trocaire boxes will be available shortly in both churches.

COVID 19  Please continue to keep yourself and others safe.  We encourage to use of hand sanitizers and face masks indoors for now.

The Prayer of the Synod

We stand before You, Holy Spirit, as we gather together in Your name.

With You alone to guide us, make Yourself at home in our hearts;

Teach us the way we must go and how we are to pursue it.

We are weak and sinful; do not let us promote disorder.

Do not let ignorance lead us down the wrong path

nor partiality influence our actions.

Let us find in You our unity so that we may journey together to eternal life and not stray from the way of truth and what is right.

All this we ask of You, who are at work in every place and time,

in the communion of the Father and the Son, forever and ever. Amen.
