SHANNON RANGERS FC
Shannon Rangers hosted Premier Division side Lough Derg A in the Tipperary Cup on Sunday morning in what turned out to be what you want in a cup tie. Shannon Rangers went 1 up mid -way through the first half but Lough Derg hit straight back with two quick goals to lead 2-1 at the break. An early goal in the second half saw the away side lead 3-1 but we hit the net quickly to bring it to a one goal game again, with 20 minutes left the away side added it’s fourth for the day. With 3 minutes left on the clock the days scoring was wound up with a well worked goal to leave the final score Shannon Rangers 3-4 Lough Derg A. All players can be proud of their efforts in this game it was just a shame a few of our regulars were missing as this was a game we could have won.
Shannon Rangers will be holding its annual fixture of the first team against the veterans on St. Stephan’s Day at the Sportsfield in Ballinderry. Kick off on the day is at 2pm. The match will be followed by a 70’s disco and fancy dress in Elsie’s with raffle and spot prizes on the night.
