POKER CLASSIC
Terryglass and Kilbarron Gun Club is holding its annual Poker Classic this Sunday 3rd February in Hannigan’s, Kilbarron, commencing at 6pm. Prize money of €1,500 pro rata and refreshments will be served during the evening, all are welcome.

BIRTHDAY GREETINGS
Birthday greetings are extended to Josie Carroll, Kilbiller, Coolbawn, who will celebrate her 87th birthday on Saturday 2nd February. We all wish Josie many more years of health and happiness.

KILBARRON DRAMA GROUP
Rehearsals are well underway for this year’s production-‘The Cripple of Inishmaan’, under the direction of Phil Quigley.
The Cripple of Inishmaan is a dark comedy by Martin McDonagh, set on the small Aran island’s community of Inishmaan in 1934, the inhabitants are excited to learn of a Hollywood film crew’s arrival in the neighbouring Inishmore to make a documentary about life on the islands. ‘Cripple’ Billy Claven, eager to escape the gossip, poverty and boredom of Inishmaan, tries out for a part in the film and to everyone’s surprise the orphan and outcast gets his chance.
The cast includes Joe O’Meara as Cripple Billy Claven, a crippled, orphan, Sharon Dunne and Christina Carroll are Billy’s adoptive aunts Kate and Eileen. Willie Lennox plays Johnnypateenmike, the town gossip and Margaret Fox is cast as Mammy Dougal, Johnny’s alcoholic 90 year old mother. Avril Tierney is Helen, a girl Billy has had a crush on for some time and new to the stage in Kibarron is John Heenan, from Borrisokane, who plays Bartley, Helen’s brother. Back with us again is Lorrha’s Andrew Dagg who is Babbybobby Bennett, a boatman, whose wife died of tuberculosis.
We are delighted to have Michael O’Halloran with us again after a few years break and he will play Doctor McSharry, the local doctor.
‘The Cripple of Inishmaam’ will be performed for 4 nights only over the Easter weekend- Thursday March 28th to Sunday 31st March.

COMEDY IN RATHCABBIN
Rathcabbin Players present a hilarious comedy ‘The Two Loves of Gabriel Foley’ by Jimmy Keary, in Rathcabbin Hall this weekend for three nights, Friday 1st February to Sunday 3rd February. Booking is essential on (087) 2360096 between 6-9pm please.

KILBARRON NS
Kilbarron NS Parent’s Council will host celebrity chef Nevin Maguire’s cookery demonstration in the Abbey Court Hotel, Nenagh, on Tuesday 26th February. Tickets are €25 and available from Carmel Fox 087 6359492,  Hannigan’s, Kilbarron and McDermott’s Pharmacy, Borrisokane.

TERRYGLASS ICA
Our next meeting will take place on Wednesday 6th February at 8pm and hostesses for the night are Annette Cahalan and Nora O’Donoghue.

SET DANCING
As part of the music school in Terryglass set dancing and sean-nos dancing classes for all age groups, young and old, will take place on Thursday nights from 7-8pm in Terryglass Hall.

COMMUNITY ALERT
The ‘Tip of the Week’ is- “Out and About”. If travelling by car keep doors locked and be alert when parking and getting out of your car. On public transport sit as close to the driver as possible. Keep wallets and purses out of sight, handbags and shoulder bags should be kept close to the body.

FAMILY FUN WALK
There will be a Family Fun Walk on Sunday 10th February, leaving Hannigan’s at 3pm. It is a 3 mile walk suitable for all family members and all are welcome. Refreshments in Kilbarron Old School Hall afterwards.

CHURCH NEWS
Friday 1st February is the First Friday and the Feast of St. Brigid, Mass is at 9am in Kilbarron and in Terryglass at 7.30pm, preceded by Adoration at 6.30pm and Benediction at 7.20pm. Confessions are available before both Masses.
Saturday 2nd February is the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, candles will be blessed in Terryglass on Friday and in Kilbarron on Saturday night. Candles for altar use or donations for same will be very welcome. Extra candles will be available to take home if anyone wishes to do so.
Sunday 3rd of February is the Feast of St. Blaise and blessing of throats will take place on Friday and Saturday nights and on Sunday.
Adoration is on every Wednesday night from 6.30-7.30pm in Kilbarron Church. We would like to invite people to drop in, even for ten minutes.

LOWER ORMOND ACTIVE RETIREMENT
The first outing of 2013 will take place on Monday 4th February when the club will visit The Derg, Terryglass for a meal followed my an afternoon of music, song and dance with music from the popular Seanie Gleeson. The choice of main course is Beef or Sea Trout and the dessert is either cherry trifle or rice and the subsidized cost is €10. BINGO
There is Bingo every Monday in Terryglass Community Hall at 8.30pm sharp organised by the Shannon Rovers GAA Club with great money prizes, including an excellent Jackpot of €1,000. Contact Oliver Darcy for further information. The prizes are excellent with €15, €20 and €50 for a line, two lines and a full house respectively. There is a flyer for €150 each week and the full house if the jackpot isn’t won is €100.
Buses are available from the surrounding area,i.e.Nenagh/Ardcroney/Borrisokane/Ballinderry and Ballingarry/Rathcabbin/Lorrha/Carrigahorig/Terryglass. Buses depart at 7pm and for further information contact Ken Daly 087 6273177 or 067 21988.

RURAL TRANSPORT
A bus is available to take parishioners from Terryglass, Ballinderry and Coolbawn to the Saturday 7.30pm Mass in Terryglass and departs from Terryglass at 6.50pm.  For further information or to book a place please contact Loretta Tiernan 067 28066 or Mary Tierney 28167
The bus to Nenagh each Thursday departs Paddy’s, Terryglass at 10am, Ballinderry 10.10, Coolbawn (Molamphy’s) 10.20 arriving in Nenagh at 11am. The bus returns from Nenagh at 2.10pm .We urge you to consider availing of these services, which are free to Travel Pass holders. The bus operator is Ken Daly 087 6273177 or 067 21988 or if you require more information on any route please contact Louise 067 27088. A bus travels each Friday from Nenagh via Borrisokane and Ballingarry to Bingo in Birr.
A bus also travels to Borrisokane each Monday departing from Terryglass around 1pm, via Ballinderry, Coolbawn and Carney Commons and arrives at 2pm and departs for home at 4pm. Services are door to door and booking can be made by contacting Ken Daly
