DEATH
The death occurred recently, in England, of Mary Gladwin, (nee Tierney) formerly of Ballyscanlon, Coolbawn. Sympathy is extended to her relations.

RYDER CUP
Leo Cahalan, Curnamult, Terryglass, had the privilege of being a volunteer green keeper at the Ryder Cup held in Gleneagles Golf Club, Scotland last week. He was a staff member there for 8 years, but now lives and works in Sale, Cheshire.

OPERATION TRANSFORMATION
Operation Transformation is in action again and Kilbarron Hall Committee is organising ‘Keep Fit’ classes in Kilbarron Hall on Tuesdays from 8-9pm, starting on October 21st. The ‘Weigh-in’ is tonight, Wednesday 1st October, in Hannigan’s at 9pm. So why not come along and join the fun while losing some unwanted weight and getting fitter.

BALLINDERRY INITIATIVE
Mary Fogarty and Maeve O’Hair attended the recent meeting in Ballinderry and gave a very informative talk. The next step will be to compile a Survey, which will be distributed in the area, to find out if people would like to see a meeting place established in Ballinderry as a venue for people to meet and exchange ideas, to socialise and meet new people and with a view to opening a co-op shop for crafts and home produced products. The survey will give you an opportunity to voice your ideas and needs.

JUMBLE SALE
Now that October is well and truly here we are rapidly approaching the yearly Charity Jumble Sale in Terryglass Community Hall on Halloween bank-holiday Saturday. Bargains are always to be found and lots of fun to be had.
Volunteers are needed and willing help greatly appreciated, especially for the preparation of the sale and the clean up afterwards.
This year there is a new formula, the organisers are offering people the opportunity to make a donation to the charity the sale is run for and in return they may run a table or half table for their own cause.

TERRYGLASS ICA
The next meeting of Terryglass ICA is this Wednesday 1st October at 8pm in Terryglass Community Hall, hostess for the night is Nuala Guest.

USED CLOTHING COLLECTION
Please start collecting your used clothing, shoes, linens, household textiles, stuffed toys, in any condition once they are clean. Bags may be left into Kilbarron School any Friday from now on. Final collection date is November 10th.

COMMUNITY ALERT
The Tip of the Week is- to have smoke alarms in your home, especially in the kitchen and sitting room and upstairs in two storey houses. It is important to check batteries to ensure your smoke alarm is working. Most house insurance policies now require you to have a smoke alarm.

CHURCH NEWS
The First Friday is Friday 3rd October and Mass is in Kilbarron at 9am and in Terryglass at 8pm preceded by Adoration at 7pm and Benediction at 7.50pm. Confession will be available before both Masses.

BINGO
There is Bingo every Monday in Terryglass Community Hall at 8.30pm sharp organised by the Shannon Rovers GAA Club with great money prizes, including an excellent Jackpot of €1,000. Contact Oliver Darcy for further information. The prizes are excellent with €15, €20 for a line and two lines respectively and full houses now range from €50, €70, €100 and €120. There is a flyer for €150 each week and the full house if the jackpot isn’t won is €100.
Buses are available from the surrounding area,i.e.Nenagh/Ardcroney/Borrisokane/Ballinderry and Ballingarry/Rathcabbin/Lorrha/Carrigahorig/Terryglass. Buses depart at 7pm and for further information contact Ken Daly 087 6273177 .

LOWER ORMOND ACTIVE RETIREMENT
The month of October will be a busy month for the club, our annual Bric-a Brac Sale will be held on Monday 13th October, in the Church of Ireland Hall, Borrisokane at 1.45pm, saleable items and home produce very welcome.
On Monday 20th October the club visits The Derg, Terryglass, for a three course meal, menu choice is beef or trout and the dessert either the restaurant speciality, cherry trifle or rice. The afternoon will follow with music and dancing with our favourite Seanie. The subsidized cost is €10, names to Jimmy Donnelly 067 38237 or Loretta Tiernan 28066.
