THE LATE JAMES BOYLE
The death of Jimmy Boyle, Drominagh, Ballinderry, occurred on 20th September. Removal took place on the following Monday evening from St. Joseph’s Funeral Home, Borrisokane, to the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Terryglass and after Requiem Mass on Tuesday interment took place in the adjoining cemetery. Jimmy, who was in his mid sixties, was a well liked and friendly man, he had spent most of his working life in England returning in latter years to his native Ballinderry. Sympathy is extended to his sisters, brothers, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

SHANNON RANGERS FC
Last weekend was not as busy as others with only the junior team playing on Sunday and the U/16 game against Lough Derg was called off last Saturday. The U/13’s had a free weekend with just training to occupy them. The juniors played Moneygall away on Sunday morning in the league and came away 4-1 winners after going 1-0 down in the first half, they made a huge comeback in the second half through a splendid John Flannery hat-trick and a bullet George Hannigan header to make it 4, well done to the boys.
Players don’t forget reg/insurance now due.
The junior team and the U/16’s will be starting training in Portumna this Wednesday night at 8pm sharp, all players to be there for 7.50pm sharp. Any other training/fixtures will be sent via text.

NENAGH RED CROSS
We will be running a Practical First Aid course, which includes CPR in Nenagh on 6th. and 20th October from 10am until 5pm each day. The cost is €10 per head and anyone interested should contact 086 1900812.

BOXERCISE
As part of a fitness regime Boxercise with Phil will take place in Kilbarron Hall each Wednesday from 8-9pm for the next ten weeks. This is a great way to keep fit and improve muscles, it is open to everyone.
At present there is a group of 21 people locally taking part in ‘Operation Transformation’ to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society and your sponsorship would be very welcome.

TERRYGLASS ICA
The next meeting of Terryglass ICA Guild will take place this Wednesday October 3rd at 8pm. New members are especially welcome. Hostesses for the night are Biddy Gleeson and Nuala Guest.

We welcome into our parish Emma O’Donoghue who was recently baptised.

RAMBLING HOUSE
The monthly Rambling House will take place this Thursday, 4th October, in Una’s Tea Room, Riverun, Terryglass, from 8-10pm. Please come and join us and bring along your stories, music and dance, or just come and listen. There will be a ‘Special Guest’ on the night. A cupan tae will be served and there is no charge.

TRADITIONAL MUSIC CLASSES
Traditional Music Classes have resumed in Terryglass Hall on Thursdays. Instruments include the fiddle, flute and tin whistle. Beginners and improvers of all ages are welcome. For more details contact John on 087 2869269.

PILATES CLASSES
Pilates Classes with Geri have resumed on Thursdays, in Kilbarron Hall at 8pm. Beginners always welcome.

JUMBLE SALE
Now that October is well and truly here we are rapidly approaching the Halloween bank-holiday weekend with the Charity Jumble Sale to be held in Terryglass Community Hall on Saturday and Sunday.
Bargains are always to be found and lots of fun to be had over these few days, so come along and pick up some bargain goodies. Volunteers needed and willing help greatly appreciated, especially for the preparation of the sale and the clean-up afterwards.

COMMUNITY ALERT
The ‘Tip of the Week’-is to have smoke alarms in your home, especially in the kitchen and sitting room and upstairs in two storey houses. It is important to check batteries to ensure your smoke alarm is working.

BINGO
There is Bingo every Monday in Terryglass Community Hall at 8.30pm sharp organised by the Shannon Rovers GAA Club with great money prizes, including an excellent Jackpot of €1,000. Contact Oliver Darcy for further information. The prizes are excellent with €15, €20 and €50 for a line, two lines and a full house respectively. There is a flyer for €150 each week and the full house if the jackpot isn’t won is €100.

Buses are available from the surrounding area,i.e.Nenagh/Ardcroney/Borrisokane/Ballinderry and Ballingarry/Rathcabbin/Lorrha/Carrigahorig/Terryglass. Buses depart at 7pm and for further information contact Ken Daly 087 6273177 or 067 21988.

RURAL TRANSPORT
A bus is available to take parishioners from Coolbawn, Ballinderry and Terryglass to the Saturday 8pm Mass in Terryglass and departs from Kilbarron at 7.15pm.  For further information or to book a place please contact Loretta Tiernan 067 28066 or Mary Tierney 28167
The bus to Nenagh each Thursday departs Paddy’s, Terryglass at 10am, Ballinderry 10.10, Coolbawn (Molamphy’s) 10.20 arriving in Nenagh at 11am. The bus returns from Nenagh at 2.10pm .We urge you to consider availing of these services, which are free to Travel Pass holders. The bus operator is Ken Daly 087 6273177 or 067 21988 or if you require more information on any route please contact Louise 067 27088. A bus travels each Friday from Nenagh via Borrisokane and Ballingarry to Bingo in Birr.
A bus also travels to Borrisokane each Monday departing from Terryglass around 1pm, via Ballinderry, Coolbawn and Carney Commons and arrives at 2pm and departs for home at 4pm. Services are door to door and booking can be made by contacting Ken Daly

CHURCH NEWS
Friday 5th October is the First Friday and Mass is in Kilbarron at 9am and in Terryglass at 8pm, preceded by Adoration at 7pm and Benediction at 7.50pm. Confessions will be available before both Masses.

FR. JOHN MOLLOY
Fr. John Molloy will be with us on the weekend of October 13th and 14th. He will be making an appeal for his missionary work in Ecuador and your support and generosity would be much appreciated.

LOWER ORMOND ACTIVE RETIREMENT ASSOC.
Forthcoming events for the month of October include our annual Bric-a-Brac Sale this Monday 8th October in the Church of Ireland Hall from 1.30pm. Also on that afternoon Emma Stanley, Chiropodist will be on site for your foot care.
On Monday 22nd October we will be holding our usual Halloween Party at 1pm in the hall, commencing with a hot meal followed by an afternoon of music, song and dance and the subsidized cost is €10.
